This is the story of how Rayson started listening to Korean pop music.
I'm not exactly sure when everything clicked for him. Rayson was always my navigating wingman driving around, so he would just be saturated with music playing on my car stereo. For a time, it was rock, then country, and then J-pop & K-pop (he never did show an interested in Japanese pop though). What may have cemented his interest was through K-dramas and variety shows. Or the fact that his favorite k-pop group was filled with 9 gorgeous asian women (Did you guess SNSD?) certainly didn't hurt. Eventually he would become a more knowledgeable fan than I, something my parents would often tease him about.
It's through K-pop that we also discovered what kind of girls we'd each like to date. And while looking for work, he had even considered going to Korea to teach English.
I've taken him to music concerts before, but this photo is a reminder of Rayson's first time seeing K-pop acts. And so we went to on a Saturday evening to the Nokia Theatre for the Victory Concert, themed "in support of the Korean National Teams and the players who participated in the 2009 World Basesball Classic and the World Figure Skating Championships." We'd see a couple of familiar acts such as Jewelry, SS501, Clazziquai Project, Baek Ji Young, but was also introduced to a lot of unfamiliar names. A few that caught my attention were Wheesung, J-Lim, and Kim Gun Mo.

Here's a short video I found on YouTube from another attendee there at the Victory Concert.
I took him to several other concerts after, even during his bout with cancer, but without the visual experience, physical limitations, and mental retention, he would enjoy the moment but would forget the concert right afterwards...
I will miss my concert-going partner immensely. The Plug.dj room (still under construction: need to program a bot) is in homage to him and of the times we had together: attending concerts, singing in the car, and sharing our mutual love for music.
