There was a brief time in the winter of 2007 that Rayson worked at the Aaron Bros. in Pasadena, CA. He only worked there a few months before deciding to quit to make his art portfolio a full-time priority.
I dropped by his workplace maybe once or twice while he was on-duty. He seemed happy to see me, and seemed to get along with his co-workers enough to speak well of them. Though when he came home, Rayson would complain about his harsh manager and his hard-to-understand accent. Perhaps one more reason why he cut his employment short.
There was one time I had my brother use his discount to buy a large foam board there, but he couldn't fit it into his car. He called me, but I couldn't fit it into my car either. We eventually cut it in half. In hindsight, I probably should have measured everything and planned that out better. Now that I think about it, I still need one... haha
According to his resume, he also briefly worked at the Forty-Niner Shop while at Cal State Long Beach. Never really knew why that job was so brief, but if its anything like I experienced while working while in college, maybe it was simply to focus on studies. Or maybe just to land some sweet alum swag at a discounted price.
Perhaps a brief career was ultimately his destiny: to allow him the time to do what he desired rather than pursue the mundane and tedious; to be able to pour out his passion into something he loved (his art); to have the freedom to go where he wanted - attend Laker games, play basketball, fly out to NY and surprise family there.
To live a life without regrets.
